Why AI visibility matters now

Buyers use AI to compare the vendors they already have in mind. If an answer leaves you out or gets you wrong at that moment, the comparison happens without you.

More figures, with sources: AI search statistics.

94%

of business buyers report using AI during their buying process.

Forrester, State of Business Buying 2026; ~18,000 business buyers, global

69%

of B2B software buyers say an AI chatbot led them to a different vendor than they initially planned.

G2, The Answer Economy; 1,076 B2B decision-makers, March 2026, global

Middle of the journey

Buyers use LLMs most in the middle of the journey, to compare vendors, not to discover them.

6sense, 2025 B2B Buyer Experience Report; ~4,000 B2B buyers, purchases from $25k

What goes wrong for most companies

AI answers get companies wrong.

  • 64% of B2B software buyers encounter AI inaccuracies at least a few times a month. G2, The Answer Economy; 1,076 B2B decision-makers, March 2026, global
  • 37% of marketers say competitors are mentioned more often than their brand in AI answers; 30% say their brand is described inaccurately. Semrush; 481 marketers, June 2026

Many companies are not surfaced at all.

Our tests of 77 companies from the public ESA BIC Noordwijk incubatee and alumni listings, 25 and 26 August 2026:

  • the target company wasn't surfaced in 79.7% of 231 answers; 49 of 77 were never surfaced;
  • only 1.2% of 1,798 logged citations pointed to the companies' own websites;
  • 8 of 29 companies failed a bare-name test; all 8 resolved once one clause of context was added.

Your website is only part of the evidence an engine uses, and a clear, consistent description of what you do is part of the fix. Read the full study

Measure

Show details Hide details

In Foundation we agree a buyer prompt set and record a baseline on 30-50 prompts across ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Google AI Overviews: where you appear, how you are described and which sources the answers cite. Foundation also covers a market and niche map, buyer demand research, an expertise and proof review (E-E-A-T), a narrative check, technical readiness, and a prioritised roadmap with a walkthrough call. See what Foundation includes.

Fix

Show details Hide details

Four kinds of work:

  • Technical readiness: search engines and AI crawlers can reach, read and interpret your pages, with accurate structured data.
  • Content: pages that answer the questions buyers ask when they compare vendors.
  • External evidence and authority: independent sources that describe your company.
  • Narrative: one clear description of what you do, for whom and why, used consistently.

In Growth you start with one primary track, chosen in Foundation: AI & organic visibility, authority and third-party evidence, local search, or shopping.

Re-measure

Show details Hide details

We re-measure the agreed prompt set monthly with our in-house tooling, so every month compares like with like. A monthly strategy call covers what changed and what comes next. You approve every piece of work before it ships. CitedLift is founder-led from the Netherlands; specialists join where the roadmap needs them.

What Google says about its AI features

  • Google's generative AI features rely on its core Search ranking and quality systems; from Google's perspective, optimizing for them is still SEO.
  • Google Search ignores llms.txt: it neither helps nor harms visibility there.

What we don't promise, and what else we do

AI engines decide what they cite and which companies they name; no agency controls that. We commit to a measured baseline, the agreed work approved by you, and a monthly re-measurement that shows what changed, including when nothing did.

Around AI visibility we work on organic search, local search and ecommerce discovery. Google Ads and website projects are separate services, quoted separately. We don't do social media management, Meta campaigns, email marketing or outbound LinkedIn lead generation.

FAQ

What is the difference between a GEO agency and an SEO agency?

SEO works on how you rank in search results. GEO works on whether AI answers name your company and describe it correctly. The two overlap: Google's generative AI features rely on its core Search ranking and quality systems; from Google's perspective, optimizing for them is still SEO. We measure every engine on the same prompt set, so you see where the work shows up and where it doesn't. More in GEO vs SEO.

Can you guarantee we will appear in ChatGPT or Google AI Overviews?

No. No agency controls what AI engines cite or recommend. We commit to measurement, execution and transparency: a baseline, agreed work, and a monthly re-measurement on the same prompts.

Which AI engines do you measure?

The Foundation baseline covers ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Google AI Overviews, on 30-50 buyer prompts. In Growth, the agreed prompt set is re-measured monthly.

How much does it cost?

Foundation is from €1,500, one-time. Growth is from €1,250 per month, with a 3-month minimum. Where a track needs paid placements, the budget is passed through at cost with zero markup, typically €500-2,000 per month. Google Ads and website projects are quoted separately. Prices are for companies selling into EU, UK and US markets. See pricing.

How long does it take to see changes?

Foundation takes 2-3 weeks and sets the baseline. From then on, Growth re-measures the same prompt set every month, so you see change, or its absence, against that baseline. We don't promise a timeline, because what the engines do is outside anyone's control.

Do we need an llms.txt file?

Not for Google. Google Search ignores llms.txt: it neither helps nor harms visibility there. We don't sell llms.txt as a visibility fix.

Do you run Google Ads or build websites as part of Growth?

No. Google Ads and website projects are separate services with their own scope and are quoted separately. Google Ads media spend is paid by the client directly to Google.
